Zygnema – What Makes Us Human Is Obsolete
India has some very talented heavy metal and extreme metal bands, and Zygnema (whatever the hell it means) falls in between this talented spectrum of the two genres of music mentioned.
“What Makes Us Human Is Obsolete” is a well written and crafted slab of thrash, extreme metal, with hints of death and some even heavy metal within their songs. They’ve some unique ideas within their rhythms and riffs, as they meld together seamlessly unleashing a wave of sonic obliteration. They just pummel your ears like an upper cut blow coming from a boxer on a mission to destroy his opponent completely. If you can imagine this type of physical assault, you’re in for a rough time with the ass kicking guitar antics of “Shell Broken Hell Loose” with its choppy rhythms and agonized vocals.
The vocals here definitely have a superb mixture of Phil Anselmo, Max Cavalera and Meshuggah, which makes Zygnema’s pissed off thrash metal even more enticing to listen to.
The last track “A Design To Choose”, features these chaotic vocals as well as the gallopy rhythms, and a lead that’s so melodic, you hear every note played to the last beat here. And, this being the only track to feature some clean singing towards the end of the song, sounds really good, as it fits what these guys are doing.
India again, is leading the way when it comes to talented extreme metal bands, and Zygnema is surely leading the charge here. Check it out. Transcending Obscurity Sarjoo Devani
