Toto – Live At Montreux 1991 (Rock Music Blu-Ray/CD review)

Toto - Live at Montreux 1991

Toto – Live At Montreux 1991

Toto has always written memorable songs and timeless classics, and this live concert recording/video is no exception to the rule.

“Live At Montreux 1991” shows the band at one of their most memorable live performances, with tons of feel good energy that’s sure to rock your world with Toto’s greatness.

Band founder/lead guitarist, songwriter Steve Lukather along with fellow band mates David Paich (synthesizers & keyboards), Mike Porcaro (bass guitars) and brother Jeff Porcaro (drums & percussion) definitely put on one heck of a concert for their fans at the Montreux Jazz Festival, in July of 1991. Steve’s vocals are just phenomenal, especially with the back up singing provided by his band members along with the extra stage talent.

This double disc set with a Blu-Ray disc and an audio disc makes a totally complete package, with classics such as “Africa”, “On The Run”, “Rosanna”, “I’ll Be Over You” and the funky, semi-bluesy instrumental “Jake To The Bone” being the highlights here. In all honesty, the other three cuts “Kingdom Of Desire”, “Red House” and “I Want To Take You Higher” also make this rare concert performance so special. The Blu-Ray disc is brilliantly produced, edited and shot, showing the band in their live glory. These guys were very, very entertaining on stage, and it seemed like they blew the roof off of the venue holding the Jazz festival.

And it is also featured in 5.1 surround sound as well, which brings this concert to your living room; ultimately bringing you into their world of rock. The audio CD also features the same lineup of songs, and is an awesome addition, as you can take it along with you in the car. There’s nothing like putting that compact disc into your car’s stereo and cranking this baby to 10, and listening to Toto go all off while their audiences just go crazy.

This nicely packaged tri-panel Digipac is presented with a three-page folded insert, with insights regarding this concert from current members Steve Lukather and David Paich. This is a must have for Toto fans and even for fans of well-played rock music. Eagle Vision   Sarjoo Devani
