The Curved Air Rarities Series Volume 1/Tapestry Of Propositions
Curved Air is a sextet comprised of some of the finest musically talented individuals playing improvised progressive rock on their current live CD, “The Curved Air Rarities Series Volume 1/Tapestry Of Propositions”.
It’s amazing listening to Curved Air’s live CD, as this is no ordinary live performance due to the fact that they’ve improvised on all 17 songs featured here. And the interesting thing is, they’re all in key, and their music and songs flow so seamlessly, which really sets them apart from the many progressive rock bands the world over. They’ve even featured some yelled out and frustrated female vocals on tracks 1 and 17, which gives their CD a bit of musical diversity.
To make this live recording even more unique, each of their songs found on this album were recorded in 14 different cities around the UK and Europe. The crowds in the background are so in-tune with their music, as they can be barely heard here. For a live recording, this is an interesting point because normally you have members of the audience just going crazy for their favorite bands.
“Kinross Improv” is an awesome tune with its epic-sounding guitars rhythms and harmonies, and the aura of adventure this song creates is nothing short of spectacular.
Curved Air also utilizes violins and synthesizers to keep their songs diverse and musically damn interesting.
I usually don’t care for live recordings, but I must say, “Tapestry of Propositions” is one release, which transports the listener to where the band is actually playing. The music not only flows here, it’s something that puts you in a state of trance, in “Curved Air’s progressive rock world. Curved Air Records Sarjoo Devani
