THE BODY POLITIC – Egressor (CD)
Wow! Yes, this is what I said, when I started listening to The Body Politic, as their latest ep “Egressor” comes at you like a locomotive engine, yet puts you at ease with their melodic vocals and melodic guitars. The Body Politic play a style of alternative metal more in the vein of Bring Me The Horizon, As I Lay Dying, Caliban and Crossfade. However, The Body Politic utilize rough, pissed off vocals along with the more clean melodic crooning style of singing, which is nothing new, but they do it so well and convincingly. These unique vocal style inter-changes are complemented by off the wall, well-crafted keyboard parts, which accent their aggressive and more soothing arrangements really well.
I love the fact that these guys know how to blend the heavy elements of their music with the lighter parts, yet keeping you on the edge of your seat. Every song on this mini album is a cliffhanger, wow.
The strong studio production on “Egressor” also lends itself to a more superb feel and flow to the music, which makes it all that more interesting with its different tempo changes and variations in the overall dynamics of the songs here. With six tracks on offer, you’re going to have plenty of music to bang your head to, no kidding. I cannot to wait to check out The Body Politic’s full length release as they’ve plenty to offer to the heavy and melodic music connoisseur.
