Dutch quartet thrashers System Overthrow play an eighties tinged style of thrash metal with melodic heavy metal vocals with some rough edges here and there. Imagine Michael Kiske of Helloween jamming with early Overkill, and you’ve System Overthrow with their anger and frustration-driven thrash metal.
This three track, almost 11-minute ep is a strong showing for a group who possess a lot of potential.
The only problem I see with System Overthrow is that they will face a lot of stiff competition from more established acts as Evile and Municipal Waste. However, with SO’s melodic vocals, which are more understandable than the competition, should also help them standout from the crowd.
There are some early Iron Maiden rhythm guitar influences on the third track: “Fallen Angel”, which is pretty cool to hear.
I really think these guys are promising, but to form a solid opinion about their thrash metal music, I will surely need to check out their full length CD when it is released. System Overthrow’s music is not bad, but at the same time it is nothing to brag about home.
