SEWERCIDE – Severing The Mortal Cord E.P. (CD)

Aussie death metal lunatics Sewercide play a rabid form of old school death metal that’s sure to decapitate your head and limbs with their punishing rhythms and chaotic low end screams.

These guys throw everything at the listener, from their arsenal of down tuned, grinding guitars, suffocated vocals, and drumming that’ll just pummel you. The ungodly music on this five-track e.p., comes across like a chainsaw out of control and destined to dismember your helpless corpse.

The vocals reminded me a bit of Martin Van Drunen’s performance on “The Rack” from Asphyx, which was a high-end release. The vocals come across as being suffocated, in a bag, but sounding as if the vocalist is being buried alive in a shallow grave.

The production is pretty solid and spot on in clarity, and this aspect only intensifies the harshness of Sewercide’s chaotic output in overall power. Listening to the five cuts featured here, is comparable to getting hit by a category 5 hurricane with wind comparable to the bestial rhythms.

If the five tracks on here are anything to go by, I am betting on their full length being comparable to a fucking holocaust of human souls. This bunch is very lethal in its delivery, and it is something you should not take lightly when listening to at high volume levels. [Infernal Devastation] Sarjoo Devani
