Rotheads – Unfazed By Death

Old school death metallers Rotheads will definitely tear your head off of your shoulders with their brutally sick and twisted affair in the form of “Unfazed By Death”.

I can’t help but feel the darkness and sorrow-laden emotions brewing from this eight track CD. The music alone comes across sounding violent, slow at times, and then peaks into a viral, rapid assault upon your senses. Imagine mixing into one band, influences from Death, Autopsy, Unleashed and Grave, and you can possibly start to imagine the sheer auditory warfare Rotheads is capable of inflicting upon the listener’s frail mind.

Songs like “Stench of Death” and “Warding Blood” remind a lot of early Autopsy, as they’ve that downtuned, galloping rhythms, which outright make you suffocate in Rotheads’ ungod like old school death metal. The tempo changes on all of their songs are kept interesting with the unsuspecting guitar changes, all the while the drumming and bass rhythms blatantly hammer away you like a nail into a piece of wood.

“Unfazed By Death” is nothing new or even refreshing, but the fact it is played with so much conviction, bringing back the glory days of old school death metal is a treat in itself. Furthermore, for those listeners into slamming and moshing in a pit, Rotheads’ music is just perfect for this out of control and out body experience.

One listen, and you shall be hooked until your ears fall of your bloody head, in complete agony.    Odmetnik Records      Sarjoo Devani
