Sweden’s maniacal quartet, Regimen specializes in old school and eighties influenced hardcore with raw punk rock influences within their short and yet very cathartic songs. Musically, it is raw and great for slamming and creating one hell of a moshpit. You will certainly be tempted to knockout someone’s lights in the pit, just be warned.
Their music is quite basic and at the same time, very raw, but it does get the listener’s attention with their use of chaotic, screamed out vocals, which suits their style and sound just perfect. I think it is their sheer musical energy, which kept me intrigued throughout their 15-track album. Yes, I did get a black vinyl copy of their latest release. I love vinyl, wish more bands did this as it is still a very cool thing to have your favorite music on vinyl.
My only disappoint here came from their lyrics sung in their native tongue, Scandinavian, so if you understand the Swede language, you’re in luck. Apart from their lyrics, Regimen is a sincere lesson in hardcore influenced by raw punk, kind of Dead Kennedys meets Black Flag meets The Exploited – wow, what a crazy combination.
