Calling all stoner rockers, Kyuss and Monster Magnet fans as Red Fang speak volumes of the aforementioned groups and style. Red Fang’s “Murder The Mountain” features stoner rock driven rock and roll riffing and rhythms. Singer and guitarist Maurice Bryan Giles seems like he is pissed at life as vocals are shouted out with angst and frustration.
Some tracks on “Murder The Mountains” have an upbeat energy to them such as “Painted Parade” and “Into The Eye”, which sounded pretty cool, but I could not say the same for rest of the record as it just bored the hell out of me as most of their material sounded like rehashed stoner rock with some hints of metal.
This quartet sound tight and know how to play their instruments, which is all good, but it falls short of any damn creativity as this shit is nothing new. Red Fang would’ve been the hottest thing had they released this album back in 1995/96.
Red Fang is not my cup of tea, but hey, it might rock your boat and leave you begging for more.
