Ragehammer – The Hammer Doctrine
Polish blackened thrash metal unit Ragehammer play such a caustic and mind obliterating style of extreme black thrash, it’s sure to numb your brains from their repulsive sonic genocide.
“The Hammer Doctrine” reminds so much of the first two albums from Sodom and Kreator, which takes the listener back to a time when the extreme metal world was in its killer prime. I wish, those days would return, as a lot of the up and coming black metal and thrash metal bands just miss the mark nowadays, in spirit and that ancient feeling of an abysmal sacrifice...
Ragehammer’s guitar rhythms intertwined with some of the fiercest-sounding riff-hell along with the shouted out, semi-growl vocals makes for a very perverse listening experience here. The hopelessness created on this nine-tracker is beyond imagination, as there is so much thrown at the listener on this album. You’d be lucky if you survived the auditory torture in the first listen, as the music here just gets so vile. Repeated listens to this album, and to vicious bloodletting cuts like “Knives”, just shows, suffering and death are certain here. Even heart palpitating and dramatic musical twist and turns on this song are so viral and sadistic; it’s hard to keep your head afloat amidst the onslaught brought about here.
The overall sound on the album is pretty good, with everything coming across as brutally as possible. Highly worth a listen, if you’re into old school blackened thrash metal with that ancient feeling of early Sodom, Kreator and Darkthrone. “The Hammer Doctrine” has the best of both worlds (thrash and black metal) blended together for one explosive, soul raping sound.
