Ordinul Negru - Faustian Nights
Ordinul Negru has just released its 8th studio album, and if "Faustian Nights" is anything to go by, I cannot wait to check out their previous releases now.
Musically, this bunch create spine chilling, hair raising, and atmospheric black metal with slight hints of death metal for good measure. Opening cut "Approaching The Door Of Damnation" just races by you, but not before leaving you entangled in a web of catastrophic guitar riffs, explosive drumming assaults, and eerie atmospheres created by a synth sound all its own.
One element, which makes "Faustian Nights" so soul captivating is the fact, the eights tracks on offer here are totally engulfed in aggression and a haunting feeling of blatant emptiness. I really admire this band's usage of synthesizers in such ways, you cannot even tell that it is a synth playing in the background.
Listening to Ordinul Negru's grim and cold-sounding black metal is like preparing for the world's violent extermination at the hands of an unknown evil force from the underworld. "Elder Magik" has that raspy and guttural at times death metal vocal delivery, yet throwing the listener in for an upside down tailspin.
Furthermore, "Faceless Metamorphosis" is a prime example of this merciless and rabid torture you can expect to hear with its heart stopping rhythms, bestial, raspy vocal insanity, and grey atmospheres extreme enough to drive you to the point of no return emotionally. With heavy melodies present within this song as well the other songs here, "Faustian Nights" is one hell of a sadistic release packed with merciless aural torture.
Definitely worth checking out if you ever enjoyed Dissection, early Dimmu Borgir, Hecate Enthroned and Immortal. This is definitely a 9 out of 10. Loud Rage Music Sarjoo Devani
