NUM SKULL-Ritually Abused reissue
Num Skull having reissued “Ritually Abused”, their debut CD from 1988, sounds just as fucking fresh and violent with its ungodly thrash metal rhythms and psychotically driven vocals today as it 25 years ago.
With two-dozen years gone, “Ritually Abused” still sounds so modern in its sound, approach, playing and the way all of their songs are just written and put together. This record is the pinnacle of what good old thrash metal meets death metal should sound like, which has tons of lethal influences from the likes of Razor, Nasty Savage, Sadus, Hexx, Death Angel and Kreator.
It’s the energy, which this quintet from Illinois, write and play their songs with, they’re kind of like on fire, especially when you see the smoke pouring out from your stereo speakers. The music on offer here is abrasive, violent, sadistically brutal, and brimming with tons of negative feelings…
The way these guys put forth all of their energy at a level of 100%, you know that their songs are going to be more fucking explosive than a thousand sticks of dynamite combined.
“Ritually Abused” is much more toxic, deadly and evil than any fucking weapon created by humans. Just check out the nuclear detonated drumming on “Kiss Me, Kill Me”, and you will see why I am so fucking crazy over this style of 80s thrash/death metal.
This reissue is highly worth checking out as it showcases some of the best thrash metal music from late eighties, something, which cannot be replicated today due to it uniqueness. [Relapse] Sarjoo Devani
