NO RETURN – Fearless Walk To Rise (CD)
Europe has always had a solid heavy metal scene, and within these confines, you’ve many subgenres of heavy metal, such as death, thrash and black metal, and France’s No Return is a solid product of this Euro scene.
No Return’s style of thrash and death metal is executed with some of the finest and creative musicianship to come from band of such caliber. These guys incorporate plenty of catchy hooks a long with memorable guitar riffs and harmonies. The vocals on “Fearless Walk To Rise” are more in the vein of semi-growl to shouted out, but with emphasis on the extremes.
“Fearless” comes across like a steam locomotive, ready to run over you, leaving your helpless corpse for the vultures. Their rhythms and riffs are played in unison with each other and the heavy as hell drumming style makes this song lean and mean, with a whole lot of power and grit.
No Return is not afraid to show-off their talented and skilled playing here, and it comes across cleanly on all ten tracks. I think their musicianship is very neatly executed, not rush and tastefully accented throughout this album.
Considering these guys have been around since 1989, it shows in their level of songwriting arrangements and musical delivery. They are very professional, and it radiates throughout their songs, and makes for an interesting listening experience.
Imagine Testament mixed with, Coroner, Arch Enemy, and you’ve a band high on musical insanity and talent that some bands could only dream of. [Mighty Music ] Sarjoo Devani
