NEW BLOOD – Subsistence (CD)
The land of down unda certainly produces brutal death metal bands that know no boundaries when it comes to cruelty to humans, as New Blood decimates all living things on their ultra bombastic “Subsistence” CD.Despite the band’s moniker sounding like a metalcore band, they’re just the opposite, with their down tuned bestial vocals, buzz saw blade guitars and percussive work sounding like landmines going off in your head. The interesting point about this band is, they keep things interesting with their utilization of odd time changes, haunting riffs here and there, and guitar rhythms that come at the listener like a squadron of possessed zombies.
“Subsistence” might as well be a zombietrack to a movie like Zombie Apocalypse, ha-ha. Their lyrics should not be taken seriously, as they’re thoughtfully crafted with abundance of twisted, bloody fantasies found in a horror novel. If you do take these guys seriously, you definitely need to be locked up in a mental institution in Tasmania. Just listen to New Blood and its kiss your ass good bye, hello 12 feet under, being chomped on by a sadistic colony of toothed maggots while buried beneath the dirt. Highly recommended for fans of Pathology, Cattle Decapitation, Suffocation and Aborted Fetus. [Grindhead] Sarjoo Devani
