MOROST – Solace In Solitude (CD)
Morost’s debut album “Solace In Solitude” is a killer and an atmospheric concoction of early Opeth, The Chasm, but a lot more dark in sound and approach. This band outta Slovenia definitely know how to inject such depressive elements within their music, you just start to feel depressed and as if you’re losing control of your mind. “Solace In Solitude” invokes images of an eerie and grey world, where humanity is frozen in time and at odds with the world it inhibits.
Morost’s songs are somewhat lengthy and epic sounding, kind of like short stories, but told through songs instead. This is what I really enjoyed about this band, they tell their stories in such provocative ways, you’re kind of dangling for the ending, but you’re left to search for the answers in the dark cold fog of uncertainty. Their guitar melodies along with their chilling synthesizer passages are so fucking hauntingly frigid, you can sense fear of the paranormal in its worst forms.
I would not recommended listening to “Solace In Solitude” at night, as the seven tracks on offer are sure to bring your night terrors to life beyond your worst imagination.
For fans of dark, depressive, melodic, deathly and atmospheric music, Morost’s “Solace In Solitude” is going to bring the listener to their knees in complete earth shattering misery. [Self-Released] Sarjoo Devani
