MISERY INDEX – The Killing Gods (CD)
Freakin’ eh, the sound on Misery Index’s latest release “The Killing Gods” is nothing short of spectacular, as it is blisteringly out of control, on a mission to destroy everything in its path. Misery Index do a superb job of mixing low end, earth quake-causing guitar parts precisely blended together with deafening riffs and percussion violent enough to blow a hole through your already rattled ears. Does this sound painful enough, if not, you will be begging to die on the “The Killing Gods”, as this album is potent enough to cause permanent brain damage. Tracks 1-5 are part of a collective song, written around “Faust”, and these five songs show the band’s diversity from strange acoustic passages to melodic leads and death/grind brutal enough to be admired by the toughest connoisseurs of the most extreme metal known to human ears.
The other eight tracks are a good listen too, with their interesting changes and unpredictable variants, which are seriously raw, extremely heavy, and comprised of some of the best musicianship to come from an extreme metal band of Misery Index’s caliber.
Simply put, if you enjoyed their previous outings, “The Killing Gods” smokes everything they’ve done up to this point.
Actually, I would love to check these dudes out in a concert, as I know one thing’s for sure, everyone and everything will be airborne indiscriminately – hell yes!! [Season Of Mist] Sarjoo Devani
