Misantropus – The Gnomes
Misantropus hail from Italy, and play instrumental heavy metal within the doom-laden metal of Black Sabbath, St. Vitus, The Obsessed and even Candlemass.
The four songs on this album add up to an ass kickin’ 35 minutes of instrumental doom metal that’s sure to kick you in the guts and leave you begging for more.
Musically, this duo is quite talented, as they drown out your sorrows with their dirge driven instrumental doom metal. The average length of the songs is a whopping 7 minutes, so you can just imagine the full on emotional darkness, which totally pervades this 4-tracker.
I enjoyed listening to Misantropus’ music, but after awhile, it sounds very repetitive since there are no vocals, and all of the changes are very subtle. However, this band can really do some killer things songwriting-wise with the addition of a singer that’ll complement their sound and style of doom metal.
