This Polish death metal squad aptly known as Masachist would kick ass, but their vocals sound too much like Cannibal Corpse, which is a total fucking rip off. Musically, they’re okay, nothing out of the ordinary, just your typical run of the mill snare, double bass, snare, double bass assault.
However, I will give them credit on the decent production as the sound is quite polished to the point where every instrument including the lousy vocals can be heard without any further issues. Their lyrics are somewhat interesting, about murder, societal ills and personal dilemmas.
The only track, which stood out for me was the raging “The Process Of Elimination” with sudden snare assaults, head split guitar rhythms and vocals sung fast, kind of blurting out words of dread and frustration.
Believe it or not, there are subtle uses of synths on this album, which kind of gives it a nice solid depth of experimentation, but without going off the cliff too much.
If you are not concerned with the Cannibal Corpse deep guttural/growl vocal similarities, Masachist just might be your cup of coffee. I unfortunately was not blown away by this band’s music or ability to create something interesting.
