Lucifer’s Friend – Too Late To Hate
Lucifer’s Friend is back with another superb studio album in the form of “Too Late To Hate”, and it rocks hard with a wide range of emotions.
Singer John Lawton’s vocals are nothing short of pure brilliance, and the energy, which it exudes, has the tendency to rock your house loose from its solid concrete foundation. Yes, the power, which emanates from this record is of the highest order, as you can certainly feel it pulsing through your veins, making you radiate with total harmony.
The title, “Too Late To Hate” may come across as sounding negative but the positive feelings you get out of listening to it is like no other.
I’ve never been a huge fan of live recordings, but I must admit, the sound recording and mixing quality found on the last cut "When You're Gone", is second to none. This is the only live song featured here, as a bonus, from their 2016 concert in Japan, and it is really well produced as well their studio tracks. Every instrument and Lawton’s singing can be heard with the utmost clarity here, therefore creating a feeling of being at their concert.
I’ve enjoyed Lawton’s vocal style ever since I became familiar with his vocals on the Intelligent Music Project releases… He is a very passionate vocalist and definitely sings from the heart.
The musicianship here is spot-on note for note, with the guitars rocking you like there is no tomorrow, the synths lifting up your emotions to a higher plain, and the tight rhythm section just makes you want to dance along to their music.
Lastly, Lucifer’s Friend has released fine brilliant album in a long while, as this is sure to rock your world. Excellent. Cherry Red Records Sarjoo Devani
