Lacrimas Profundere – Hope Is Here
Lacrimas Profundere has always been a very emotional band, especially the way they deliver their songs, and “Hope Is Here”, their first concept album drives home your feelings even closer to a shattered life in total despair.
Having followed the band since their first proper studio album on Napalm Records, Lacrimas Profundere still has the power to bring you into their tranquil and grey state of mind.
The gothic metal this quintet write exudes so many instances of internal struggles that humans face at any given point in their lives. The 12 tracks on this album are all very unique from one another, and at the same time compliment each other as well, being that it’s a concept album. The arrangements on this album give “Hope Is Here” a very movie-like presence, and this aspect only keeps it interesting for the listener, as the 12-songs here flow so seamlessly like a cinematic plot.
The band’s musicianship is another noteworthy observation, as they play like tomorrow is their last day on the earth, with plenty of emotions ranging from sadness to hopefulness, and this is the spark of light, which makes it a hit for me.
Listening to the cold and bleak sounds on “Awake” just moves the imagination in unheard of places, where self-guilt is king. The synthesizers on this track as haunting as they are invoke the best of self-discovery triggers within the self. Yes, this one will get you reflecting on all of the downs, which have plagued your past lives.
The saddened acoustical and distorted down tuned guitar harmonies on “Black Moon” brought tears of a certain illicit joy, as it stole my soul while I wrote this review. The melancholic singing on this song also invoked my emotional state of being, as I could feel my spirit’s tears roll down its cold, pale face. It was a great feeling, as my soul could see myself sitting in my chair and writing away, listening to the best Lacrimas Profundere record ever written – WOW!!!
I highly recommend listening to “Hope Is Here” after nightfall, around 10:00 or 11:00, and you’ll feel every bit of your life tremble in complete emptiness. Excellent. This is a 10 out of 10 for me. Oblivion/SPV Records Sarjoo Devani
