Judas Priest – Battle Cry (Blu-ray)

Judas Priest has always been an entertaining band to watch live, as they definitely put on an earth shattering performance, leaving you begging for more head banging frenzy.

“Battle Cry” is no exception, and they definitely tore up the stage at Wacken Open Air Festival, which took place on August 1st 2015. Their stage presence is as wicked as a group of renegades on a heavy metal mission to make metal converts of unsuspecting metal heads around the world. The band is captured in all its glory performing songs from their latest long player “Redeemer Of Souls”, which is definitely Priest at its finest.

From the chilling intro of “Battle Cry” to classics: “Metal God”, “Victim Of Changes”, “Beyond The Realms of Death”, “Breaking The Law”, “Hell Bent For Leather”, “Painkiller” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin” among other classics as well as new cuts “Dragonaut” and “Redeemer Of Souls”, this is one heck of a concert and performance by the legendary metal giants Judas Priest.

New guitarist and full time member Richie Faulkner, who replaced K.K. Downing, is a superb addition to the group. KK Downing is missed, but Richie definitely delivers the goods on “Battle Cry” as well as “Redeemer Of Souls”. His stage persona is stellar and his live energy surely resonates throughout the entire performance, as he knows how to complement Rob’s vocals, Glenn’s guitar playing, Ian’s bass lines and drummer Scott Travis’ playing.

There are also a few bonus tracks on this DVD/Blu-ray disc, and since I have the raw, promo version, it is hard to say whether it has bonus footage, but one would think, something of this caliber would have band interviews and other bonus material.

Last but not least, “Battle Cry” is Judas Priest at its classic best, and they show no signs of slowing things down musically for the unforeseeable future. Check it out and bang your head forever with “Battle Cry”.    Epic     Sarjoo Devani
