In My Embrace – Dead To Dust Descend
The duo in In My Embrace write and play a wickedly, sinister-like black metal, with depressive melodies and suffocated raspy growls that’ll pierce your eardrums.
There are plenty of thrash, death and heavy metal influences within the seven tracks featured on “Dead To Dust Descend”. The music on this album is not cold or grim-sounding, but it is heavy enough to knock you flat on your face, leaving it all bruised up.
The guitars here, especially on the second track, “To Forevermore” give the listener that dark forest vibe, which you’d probably experience in an epic, horror cinema flick. This song definitely will raise the hair on your arms, as it has a brutally yet heavy and epic feel to it.
“Diabolical Masquerade” has moments of Amon Amarth’s guitar influences from their earlier days, bringing images of hellish Viking battles across Scandinavian landscapes. This song reminds a little of the guitars and vocals found on “Sorrow Throughout The Nine Worlds” by Amon Amarth.
It’s great to hear a band like In My Embrace writing and playing music with plenty of old school death and black metal influences, which is sorely, missed within today’s black and death metal scenes.
“Dead To Dust Descend” is a promising debut by melodic blackened death metallers In My Embrace, and they’re sure to put Sweden on the map again for extreme metal. Great release, and definitely worth the listen, as the music on this album is sure make your skin crawl in total trepidation. Sliptrick Records Sarjoo Devani
