HUMAN WASTE – Harvest Remnants (CD)

This Spanish quartet aptly known as Human Waste were around the early nineties, playing brutally sick death metal within the vein of Pestilence, Suffocation, Broken Hope, Gorguts and Massacra. This full length CD is comprised of 20 demo tracks from 1991 to 1993, and it is jam packed with some of the most brutal Spanish death metal since Avulsed (another ass kicking Spanish death metal band) released their first demo in the 1990s.

What made this band interesting is that the variation in death metal styles they featured on all three of their demos, was diverse. The styles ranged from a deep guttural voice and bludgeoning guitars to more of a screamed death metal style akin to Pestilence and Death, accompanied by some intricately crafted riffing. If you can imagine grinding up Suffocation, Pestilence, Gorguts, Massacra, Obituary and Death in one lethal concoction, you’re then presented with Human Waste.

The music on offer here is from a hate-filled heart, pure, genuine old school death metal done just the right way.

The production is rough, but the band’s body crushing death metal is heavier than a herd of a thousand elephants running over you.

And the cover rendition of Celtic Frost’s “Circle Of The Tyrants” just smokes, something that’ll make Tom G. Warrior smile with an evil grin.

This CD is definitely recommended, if you love your death metal in your face and straight to the point, as it is bound to kick the crap out of you. “Harvest Remnants” is a giant killer. [Xtreem] Sarjoo Devani
