HACKNEYED – Burn After Reaping (CD)
This is the second full length CD from Germany’s guttural death metal legions Hackneyed, and it was by far their most advanced CD, when it was originally released in 2009. The cool thing is, they’ve another new release coming out sometime this year.
“Burn After Reaping” is technically proficient, no-holds barred extreme brutality at its fiercest. The double bass drumming sounds like a case of grenades going off in succession, the guitar rhythms pummel you to a bloody pulp, and the bestial vocals sounds like the creature from the hellish black lagoon.
The 14 tracks of grizzly and bestial death metal here make for a very awesome listen here due its huge sound and multi-layered sonic destruction. The distorted guitar rhythms are big and complement the wrecking ball-like drumming assaults more lethal than nuclear annihilation.
It’s nice to hear this quintet play death metal unique complexities as well as simplicities, which makes for an interesting listen, as it all just hits you so fucking hard, it can knock the wind out of the listener.
Tracks like “Finger On The Trigger”, “Deatholution”, “Redying” and “Last Man On Earth” are just few of the highlights here, but all in all, this album is a very solid release in all aspects.
Calling fans of Suffocation, Pyrexia, Cattle Decapitation and Pathology, as Hackneyed is bloody impressive. [Metal Mind Productions] Sarjoo Devani
