HACAVITZ – Darkness Beyond (CD)
What do you get when you crossbreed the bastardized blackened death metal of Mexico’s Hacavitz along with Dark Funeral’s “Secret Of The Black Arts”? You get a Morbid Angel-esque version of “Seasons In The Abyss” with some special Mexican crack on top.
“Darkness Beyond” is an ok album, but it is nothing that has not been done before, so it is something that will not create any sort of waves in the underground extreme metal community.
Hacavitz may have changed musical direction from their death metal roots to more of a black metal sound, but this shit is not black metal, it is fucking rotten Mexican death metal with rehashed, what seems like a delusional black metal wet dream.
Wake up guys, this is not as fucking extreme as you and your label make it out to be. Any of the seven tracks on this album could’ve come from your previous releases, but with some added studio trickery, you have the balls to call yourselves black metal-very fucking pathetic. Do you guys even know the fucking true meaning of Black Metal, Mexican Mafia, Burritos, Tacos and American crack?
You guys were always a mediocre death metal band and will continue to be one; because of slight musical direction it does not change your bloody image.
Truly disappointing – do not waste your time here. [Dark Decent] Sarjoo Devani
