GROTESQUE DEITY – Bloodream (CD)
Mexico is known for it glorious and bloody murderous campaigns in their profitable underground drug trade, but Grotesque Deity is about to change this shit for the better.
“Bloodream” is the band’s seven track debut EP, and it blows away a lot of their death metal competition, as it is so pure in its old school spirit and sound. The ultra heaviness found on this ep is nothing short of spectacular, as the riffs race by you like an army of savages out for blood. The double bass drumming is a total assault on the senses, leaving your ears to bleed internally.
“Bloodream” is just that, it’s an extreme metal fan’s wet dream of death metal’s truest blood, from an era old school death metal unheard of today. When listening to this raging and grinding hammer of total death, you have to appreciate the fact that Grotesque Deity have stuck to their guns and put out a genuine death metal release.
These guys are very talented and skilled musicians due to the fact they keep every song here interesting and full of unsuspecting twists and turns.
The production too, for this band is really well done and shows how bloody heavy this bunch is. The instruments can be heard clearly, making for a very bruising listening experience because you can definitely feel the punishing sounds at every corner.
Grotesque Deity is not doing any original, but at this point in time they’re the true contenders to the throne of old school death metal music, as most of their old school originators have left this world for good. Very good. [ Infernal Devastation]
