FATAL IMPACT – Esoteria [Nadir Music]

Fatal Impact - Esoteria

Norwegian power trio Fatal Impact play a an old school style of heavy metal more in line with Nevermore and Communic. Their musicianship is solid and packed with plenty of harmonies and well thought out leads. The synthesizer can be heard throughout the album, but it’s not overbearing, kind of used more as a background-type of sound, to give their heavy rhythms and melodic vocals some added color.
“Esoteria” is a well-written record, but sounds too much like Nevermore in places, especially in Jorn Oyhus’ singing, which tends to remind of Warrel Dane in the harmony parts. Oyhus also does something really cool with his vocals on the darkened “The Arrival”, with his semi-black metal raspy vocal parts.
Their guitar and bass rhythms and drumming are solid and adds to the trio’s heaviness. This heaviness alone adds to the aggressive nature of Fatal Impact’s style and sound. “Esoteria” should appeal to fans of Nevermore, Communic and Jag Panzer. Fatal Impact has plenty of potential but should focus on developing their own style furthermore.
