Ergholae Somptator - Morendo jusqu'à la fin
Ergholae Somptator's eerie, atmospheric and raw black metal will engulf your mind in its torrential madness and ethereal torture on their debut EP: "Morendo-jusqua-la-fin".
This French black metal band play extreme metal with raw and primitive emotions, while intentionally suffocating their listener within their infernal winds of mass destruction. This four-song EP shows the complete musical and songwriting diversity this group has, and they all sound completely different from the other. This is the quality, which makes a black metal band like Ergholae Somptator not sound so much like a typical black metal group you’re likely to hear nowadays. Inspiration definitely fuels the fires of originality, which rise from the ashen earth.
As a band, they play with so much conviction and an infallible passion from the left hand path, which defines who they really are as songwriters.
The production is very basic, nothing too special, as there are instances of roughness throughout this EP, but the bestial wrath of torture this king of the abyss unleashes is like no other.
Some of the bands that come to mind when listening to Ergholae Somptator's music range from fellow French atmospheric black metallers Blut Aus Nord to Merrimack and even glimpses of 1349. I am not making any comparisons, as Ergholae Somptator is in an elite class of their own, and it can be heard clearly here.
With the release of this EP, I am left in total suspense about the future full length release from this band, and this glimmer of darkness is clouding my world ‘til then. Check out "Morendo-jusqua-la-fin", as it will show you the many unique shades of a world in utter despair and suffering. (Self released 2016) Sarjoo Devani
