DYING OUT FLAME – Shiva Rudrastakam (CD)
Whoa!!! Dying Out Flame of Nepal play the most brutal style of Hindu Death Metal known to all human ears on the earth. The awesome thing about this quintet is, there not even preaching the teachings of Hinduism, as they’re just talking about the events, which occurred throughout the history of Hinduism, especially stories told around Lord Shiva’s infamous wrath when he got angry with his devotees, especially his enemies. Considering that Hinduism is the oldest recorded spiritual philosophy in the world, Dying Out Flame’s lyrical themes go with their brutal yet very serene, Indian instrument-laden music very well. It brings the 50,000 plus years of Hinduism’s magical elements to the fore.
There are a total of six songs on here, but you can rest assured that it is something that’s sure to kick your ass with 100% punishing results. The extremes are so extreme, you feel as if the world around you is going to collapse in a fiery inferno. The calm Vedic chants are so soothing, it kind of feels as if you’re meditating and going into a tripped out hypnotic journey through mystical places back in time.
The mental imagery Dying Out Flame creates with their expressionist brand of exotic and extreme death metal, it makes for a great listening experience. Mind you, “Shiva Rudrastakam” is not just for fans of eastern spiritual philosophy, because there have been very dark and sinister periods within Hinduism’s glorious past. If you’re a metal head, you’ll love the total brutality and haunting mysticism Dying Out Flame possesses, but if you’re metal head looking for something very unique and musically chaotic, this fivesome will blow you out of the water.
I highly recommend this to listeners into obscure death metal that is completely engrossed in majestic musical passages employing sitars and flutes, yet knows no boundaries within the song’s creative vision, as this band incorporate the best of the most extremely insane to the more mild mannered exotic compositions that are sure to take your break away. I can only say so much, but listening is 100% believing in what Dying Out Flame is capable of writing, composing and playing.
