DECAY OF REALITY – Reality of Decay (CD)
When you cross contaminate two things or a myriad of things, you’re bound to get an interesting end result that is simply mind blowing. Russians Decay Of Reality is just that, wicked, maybe even an aborted bastard child of Paradise Lost, Morbid Angel and Kataklysm. D.O.R. sound dark, depressing at times but blast their way through at least 60% of their songs, and this is what keeps their music cool to listen to. Just imagine slow, doom-laden rhythms with growl vocals and all of a sudden hell breaks totally loose, and you’ve fast played rhythms with some intricate riffing that just blows right passed you.
This album is not only heavy but is totally dark in atmosphere, sound, and the overall heaviness of the guitars, drums and the growl vocals makes D.O.R. a heck of a brutal contender among some of death metal’s best bands.
With eight songs, it was pretty cool to hear something different on every track yet keeping the vibe of the whole song and album heavy and dark. Decay Of Reality is refreshing yet very old school in execution.
