Comatose – The Ultimate Revenge
What the fuck – this death metal from the Philippines is brutally vicious and twisted than many of the guttural death metal bands around nowadays.
Comatose’s “The Ultimate Revenge” is an amalgamation of early Deicide, Benediction, Nocturnus and a few influences from Suffocation, so you can see where I am going with this review?
Okay, now that we’ve established where we’re headed here; it’s a safe bet to say Comatose has the best of elements of technical death metal to the more semi-guttural roars to low end growls sharp enough to leave you deaf forever. The double bass, snare outbursts intertwined with the sadistic guitar riffing and rhythms definitely gives the morbid, possessed-sounding vocals such an insane feel to them, you feel as if you’re trapped in the ugly, stinky mouth of some ungodly nightmare.
With standout song titles like “Army Of Darkness”, “The Sickening Ways” and “Rivals Of The Throne” among the nine bestial cuts featured, your ears are in for the most twisted and horrendous beating they’ll ever experience.
“The Ultimate Revenge” is 100% savage in its execution and quite merciless in its old school death metal style and sound.
Comatose definitely has what it takes to go toe to toe with the likes of Deicide, Suffocation, Incantation and Immolation, with their coercive blend of old school evil death metal meets modern day guttural death metal with as much brutality you can handle. Highly worth checking this bitch out, as Comatose’s “The Ultimate Revenge” will certainly lay you to waste.
