CLAWFINGER – Life Will Kill You (CD)
“Life Will Kill You” is Clawfinger’s swansong, as it is their last release before calling it a day. This quintet plays a groove-powered type of metal with semi-industrial, dance beat influences, frustratingly shouted, rap vocals, along with some crooning as well.
The music here has that eerie-sounding keyboard backgrounds to give Clawfinger’s music a real tripped out vibe.
“Life Will Kill You” is a soundtrack of 11 songs about the ups and downs of life, greedy, fucked up people, the cards that life deals some of us, and the narrow mindedness that pervades all of humanity. When you read Clawfinger’s lyrics, they seem to come from a very, very lonely place. They kind of make you reflect on your own life and the shit that makes the very existence of humankind such a complex issue to fully understand.
I think their music is more groove, dance, and loop driven than metal, even though they’ve distorted guitars and heavy, solid drumming patterns on here. These guys should appeal to fans of One Minute Silence (who should be releasing their long awaited CD in the near future), Headcrash and Stuck Mojo.
Metal Mind Productions reissued this album, which was originally released in 2007, but now with expanded art and in a Digipac format. I really enjoyed the way the artwork is presented on the inner panels of this Digipac, as it makes you laugh. It definitely grabs your attention… [Metal Mind] Sarjoo Devani
