Whoa, “what the freaking hell is going on…” is what I felt like when I first started listening to Carnifex’s debut album for Nuclear Blast Records. And I was violently shattered into millions of pieces, ya – being emotionally shattered by a death metal band of Carnifex’s caliber never felt so damn good.
“Die Without Hope” is Carnifex’s most crushing album-to-date, and does it so effectively, with its ultra brutal drum breakdowns, muscle ripping riffs, a massive wall of tight rhythms, and vocals that’ll leave your deaf forever (not the Motorhead song). The strong studio production also intensifies the heaviness of their music, which just makes you want to mosh until the cinder block walls come crashing down.
This band’s ability of incorporate superb guitar melodies, riffs and weird sounds as can be found on the darkened “Dragged Into The Grave”. Now, this track felt like I was caught in a freakish horror-death filled movie, and chased into my final resting place (you get the picture).
There are ten cuts of utter darkness, brutality, despair, headbanging moments and superb musicianship that’ll blow your ears to oblivion. Check it out and let the violent headbanging begin. Don’t tell me that I did not warn you, Carnifex is 100% proof lethal and more on “Die Without Hope”. [Nuclear Blast] Sarjoo Devani
