BAD WEATHER PROJECT – Stormriders (CD)

Wow! This is what actually came out of my mouth instead of an expletive, as “Stormriders” just rocked my world with its intense grooves and intelligently written music.

There are plenty of catchy guitar hooks on this album, to feed the melodic crooning, which makes the songs here so memorable. The drumming is solid, with focus on superb time keeping, which keeps every beat interesting from start to finish. The fact that this quintet plays their rock and metal jams with so much conviction, you can definitely feel the band’s positive vibes, which in turn makes you feel so damn good.

“Stormriders” is a mentally therapeutic album; it soothes a chaos-laden mind with rational thought processes. Their music is almost hypnotic to a certain point, as their vocals and melodic guitar passages put you under their cosmic spell. One moment, the listener is treated to some infectious guitar and bass grooves, the next, you’re banging your head to some energetic metal rhythms.

Imagine an intense mixture of Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Sound Garden and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and you’ve an ass-kicking group in the shape of Bad Weather Project. With the above influences and few musical similarities, you’re for the treat of your life. So, go ahead, put their disc in your stereo system or download for a nominal charge, and rock out until the cows come home.

Check these guys out and you’ll be very glad you did, as they’ll impress you with the best-sounding rock/metal to come out in 2015. [Buil2Kill Records] Sarjoo Devani
