AVULSED – Ritual Zombi

Avulsed - Ritual Zombi 72

Spain's death metal, gore craving kill-team Avulsed is back with a vengeance with a new CD aptly titled "Ritual Zombi", a kind of play on words with Death's "Zombie Ritual". Death being one of many of Avulsed's influences, it is no surprise why vocalist and lyricist Dave Rotten called his band's latest CD "Ritual Zombi". And yes, there is a cover of Death's "Zombie Ritual" and it freaking smokes, something, which would do Chuck Schuldiner proud, oh ya.
There are a total of 13 cuts of pure, blood curdling brutality on this album, with two of them being eerie intros and outros and one instrumental that's sure to make you go on a killing spree (it's just a figure of speech, do not take it literally).
The sound and production on the album are quite strong, to the point where all of the instruments and vocals can be heard clearly. Just one listen to the rabid and salivating motions of "Cannivegan Corpse", you'll find yourself in a moshing frenzy. Lyrically, Avulsed have tons of Cannibal Corpse and Death influences but musically and even vocally they've strayed away from the latter, creating a sound and style all their own, which should be respected. As a matter of fact "Cult Of The Living Dead" has some really killer early Dismember/Entombed influences in the guitar riffing and drumming departments. There is almost an hours worth of insane death metal brutality on his CD, and every track on here fucking smokes. Highly recommended as I think this is definitely one of the better death metal releases of 2013.  [Xtreem Productions]   Sarjoo Devani
