AUTOPSY – Tourniquets, Hacksaws and Graves - CD
Northern California’s death metal music mongers Autopsy have dug themselves out of their shallow graves once again; to bring us more gore drenched horrors in the form of “Tourniquets, Hacksaws and Graves”.
Musically, you need not doubt the band’s progression here, as there is none, as Autopsy are just themselves once again, dishing out more body parts, headless corpses, missing eyeballs, and enough tragedy to fill a stadium getting ready for heinous public executions. However, vocalist, songwriter and drummer Chris Reifert sounds a lot more morbid and pissed off on this 12-song misery laden slab of total old school death metal with a modern production.
If I had to compare this release, it would be more of a crossover/hybrid of “Acts Of The Unspeakable” and “Mental Funeral” with some hints of their last two full length releases: “The Headless Ritual” and “Macabre Eternal”. I love this release as it is somewhat raw and unfiltered in terms of submissive brutality at its cruelest. The studio production and sound make you feel as if you’re literally there, experiencing Autopsy trying to rip you a new asshole through your mouth. Now, this is a murderous death trip of a new kind, who would’ve thought of this other then your reviewer (?) – This is a disclaimer statement by the publisher: don’t try this at home, it is just a freakin’ review for dead Pete’s sake!
Okay, had enough death metal music wrecking your senses, if not, check out Autopsy’s “Tourniquets, Hacksaws and Graves” as this is what your nightmare will be made up of when you are awakened by one of your Autopsy induced night terror episodes. [Peaceville] Sarjoo Devani
