AUGURY – Fragmentary Evidence (CD)
French Canadian’s Augury released this killer of a death metal and progressive extreme metal release back in 2009, and it still sounds like it was released just yesterday.
“Fragmentary Evidence” is a cornucopia of brutally, skin shredding guitars, head thrashing drum assaults, along with monster-like growls, but with more of a progressive music element thrown in for good measure. There are quite a few memorable acoustical interludes mixed in the eerie synthesizer passages, and then they tie it in with the heavy, in your face rhythms.
The idea here is simple, though their music is not, Augury aims to get the listener’s attention with the devastating blows it deals the listener with their jaw dropping musical insanity. Their guitar rhythms, which are intertwined with the low end pummeling bass parts and guttural growls take you, the unsuspecting listener by storm.
Their musicianship is tight in execution, flawlessly ultra brutal, with tons of interesting progressive arrangements within every song. The musical diversity found on this album is definitely more so of a highlight here than the vocals, which too have some interesting changes and moments within few of the songs here.
This album was originally released in 2009, and sounds as fresh and interesting of a release today as it did back the. “Fragmentary Evidence” is definitely a timeless piece of musical art that’ll never become obsolete or stale due to its great wealth of talent.
Check it out and watch your world burn alive, cause god will not even be able to save you from Augury’s wrath of total annihilation.
