ATRUM TEMPESTAS – Neant (CD)
Finland’s Atrum Tempestas has written the best atmospheric, tripped out doom metal/post rock album in the form of “Neant”. There is nothing but raw emotions found within their music, and it’s highly rich in atmosphere, that’s sure to conjure up total emptiness within your soul. Musically, these guys are very talented and incorporate plenty of doom metal and rock concepts along with bleak atmospheres that propel the listener into a blank void of life. Emotionally, “Neant” is effective at dowsing your mental state with such lows, you can really feel Atrum Tempestas’ spiritless, cold feelings of despair burn inside you. Mind you, this is not for everyone, as it is a style of metal, which can be defined as being eclectic metal/rock with darkened elements.
You’re prone to find unique influences from Agallock, Katatonia, Paradise Lost and even Anathema. With such superb influences as these, you know Atrum Tempestas is sure to carry your mind into many unique types of mood altering changes, which yield more lows than highs one could ever envision. There are a total three songs on here, but the music adds up to almost 35 minutes of the finest metal with tons of atmosphere and otherworldly ambiance. Highly worth checking out if you dig this style of depressive/suicidal metal. [Nordavind] Sarjoo Devani
