AGNOSTIC FRONT – Another Voice (CD)
I’ve not been a fan of Agnostic Front’s brand of Hardcore, seeing that they were the early innovators of mixing hardcore punk and metal, but the digipac reissue of “Another Voice” was a decent listen.
The music is heavy and in the listener’s face and just bruises the body with its upper jabs and blows to the lower torso. Vocalist Roger Miret comes across as aggressively as his vocal chords will let him, and he definitely shoves every word down your throat. You’ll definitely feel his passionate delivery of the personal lyrics he has penned about his experiences and sour relationships with people who’ve cross his path at one time or another.
And the music too, goes hand in hand with the deeply rooted lyrics, as you can feel their music brewing with some serious emotions.
If you’re looking for any well crafted lead playing and catchy riffs, this is certainly not for you, as “Another Voice” is straightforward hardcore at its finest form beginning to end. Agnostic Front is a simple group with simple and to the point views about life, so don’t expect anything out of the ordinary here.
Highly recommended for fans of Madball, Cro-Mags and Stigmata. Check this album out and feel true hardcore run through your veins, as an “Another Voice” takes over… It’s a good release, but still not my cup of tea, but I do respect what these guys are doing after all these years of being true to what they believe in.
