Against Evil – Fatal Assault
Against Evil hail from India, and their heavy metal is quite typical of what was done 30 years ago by the likes of Iron Maiden, Accept and Judas Priest.
“Fatal Assault” is a meticulously crafted album of melodic leads, strong vocal harmonies and an overall sound, which spells out HEAVY METAL in all caps and in bold letters. Their lead playing is skillfully executed with tons of emotion, which almost jumps out at you and gets your attention. The musicianship as well as the vocals are done really well, but it is something about Against Evil, which prevents me from really getting into this band’s style of heavy metal music.
Being that I look for a good chunk of originality, it could be the reason here, as “Fatal Assault” is not doing anything new. What these guys have put together was done 30 years ago by the likes of Priest, Maiden, Saxon, Accept and Metallica.
So, for this reason alone, I give them two stars out of five, and it’s not something I’d run out and go buy.
It’s surely not my cup of coffee, but who’s to say you will not enjoy it, it just might turn out to be your best heavy metal band ever. Unfortunately, I could not get myself to enjoy it, as it did not do a lot for me in the uniqueness category. Transcending Obscurity Sarjoo Devani
