Abysmal Growls Of Despair – Between My Dead
Abysmal Growls Of Despair is an essentially a one-man band, with mainman Hangsvart playing all of the instruments including the ungodly vocals. He is also responsible for his own compositions, studio mastering, and the concept behind “Between My Dead”.
There are four different synopsis of the songs featured on this 45 minutes long CD, and give an insight into Hangsvart’s imaginative mind. When you read the lyrics, it sends chills down your spine, but musically the slow, haunting, ethereal sound-scapes bring images of humanity’s last days on the earth. “Between My Dead” is a grim but tastefully depicted scenario of death, melancholia and immeasurable suffering in the worst ways possible.
The guitars here seemed to be down tuned to very low E and A scale tunings, as they rumble without any mercy, flattening even the grandest of monuments and the core of humanity. The haunting synthesizers only add more fuel to the burning injury the listeners’ ears will endure on this extreme misery-laden album.
The overall atmospherics on this record are very disturbing, something that is sure to invoke darkest of dark nightmares, and maybe even death in some suicidal prone listeners.
I will definitely say one thing: You need to have a very strong mind and heart to listen to “Between My Dead”, as the funeral doom music on here is sure to become the death of you.
Enter the Abysmal Growls Of Despair at your own risk, as you might never return to yourself again. This record is very, dark and evil in every aspect, and is sure to appeal to the fans of Mindrot, Morgion, Winter and Disembowlment. Satanath Records Sarjoo Devani
