Teasers of Interviews from Current Issue

A few killer teasers from current issue of

Explicitly Intense #30 – Now On Sale!!!

EXODUS

EI: What does that title mean to you?

Gary: “It is representative of organized religion and the atrocities that have been committed on its behalf.”

EI: You also have some DVDs out now, tell us about them starting with Double live Dynamo.

Gary: “It is two concerts; one is the 1985 Dynamo concert with Paul Baloff and the 1997 Dynamo Festival with Paul again. Holland has been one of our strongest…”

ICED EARTH

EI: Before we get to the new record, you guys did a video for “When The Eagles Cry”, the unplugged version in the supposed remnants of the Twin Towers. What is the worse thing you heard from doing that video?

Ripper: “I think by far that is the best video I have ever been involved with. It was not the Americans that were complaining, they were just not playing it. They did not want to remind people about 9/11. The country stations would play it because they are into…”

EI: What was the idea behind “Framing Armageddon”?

Ripper: “Jon has wanted to the ‘Something Wicked’ story for a long time. When he originally did the record, he wanted to do the whole story eventually. His days with Century were ending so he did the ‘Horror Show’ instead and he did not want to do it with…”

FACEBREAKER

EI: Is it safe to say that Facebreaker is influenced by the old school of European Death Metal?

FACEBREAKER: “It’s the only kind of music we have here in Sweden. So you can say that we are…”

EI: What kind of a reaction does Facebreaker get during a concert?

FACEBREAKER: “People go fucking crazy from the first to the last song on the set. Circle pits, stage dives and all the…”

OPETH

EI: The “Still Day Beneath The Sun” 7” EP-what was the intent in releasing that with the two songs that were there? Was it to create some memorabilia or...

OPETH: "It was because the Music For Nations label that put out the ‘Blackwater Park’ album were going to do a re-issue and they asked if we had any left over material from the recording, which we didn’t, but I said…”

EI: I'm very picky concerning live material-I always ask, “Ok, what are you justifying with this album in light of the fact that I own the albums all these songs came from?”, and I think this is a rare instance where you guys… with the exception of ‘Deliverance’, you covered at least one song from every album in your entire band history, and I think that shows the forethought that you guys put into creating the ultimate Opeth experience. Apart from actually seeing you live, this is the closest you’ll get to the history, the transition of the band, the metamorphosis as you’ve grown.

OPETH: “Yeah. The only bad thing about it was that for that show only we got... like two days from the show, we got a call from the agent saying we have a really tight curfew and we can only…”
