Many people aspire to become successful in life, but very few succeed. Most of us will give up early, some of us will keep fighting for a while but only a few will have the courage and strength to carry on until they reach their desired destination. Meet Mr. Lordi, who battled for a whole decade until he got where he is now as he didn't give up nor did he quit. As a result, now we have Lordi! After their massive success at Eurovision 2006, they’ve become one of the most influential and inspiring metal bands of the new millennium.

Keyboard virtuoso Derek Sherinian has returned with another refreshing album of musical prowess and creativity with a well-known lineup of session musicians joining him on his forthcoming opus “Molecular Heinosity”. I was able to get some time with Derek for this interview regarding his newest release and why this time around he decided to incorporate his Planet X style with that of his solo releases. Personally, I believe this to be Derek’s most musically daring album so far with the many unique arrangements and elements present within the span of one CD. Derek Sherinian is a diverse musician, songwriter and a synthesizer extraordinaire as he plays not only with so much convition but also with enough depth to drain the world’s oceans, and this is no understatement, as you will experience his sheer greatness and non-egotistical style of playing on “Molecular Heinosity”. Switzerland may be known for its chocolates and cookoo clocks and its diverse heavy metal scene, but now there is Legenda Aurea, a female fronted band with progressive twists and turns. Guitarist and songwriter Odilo gave Explicitly Intense’s Editor Sarjoo Devani the word on his band’s brand new release, the band’s new singer Simone and their conceptual direction on “Ellipsis”. Personally, listening to Legenda Aurea’s music was a refreshing experience as they sound heavy, melodic, progressive in places, and have the guts to do their own thing and not follow any of the more popular female fronted bands. Their new singer Simone sings with heartfelt passion and will definitely steal your soul with her strong conviction on “Ellipsis”. Click on the link below to listen to the interview.
Holland’s Pestilence has always written groundbreaking releases and latest CD “Resurrection Macabre” is proof that chief songwriter and founder Patrick Mameli still has what it takes to make this tech war machine known as Pestilence still brutal yet interesting as a band. Their album “Spheres”, which was released in 1993 was their most innovative and forward thinking death metal CD at the time and to this day it still is looked as a progressive tech metal release from them. “Resurrection Macabre” does not necessarily follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, but has retained that style and sound which “Testimony Of The Ancients”, “Consuming Impulse” and “Malleus Maleficarum” such sought after cult classics nowadays. Musically, the album may not come across sounding progressive at first listen, but with repeated spins you will begin to realize why this cult band has such a progressive way of thinking when it comes to putting their material together and therefore should be looked at as a modern release with old school touches. Lead guitarist and vocalist Patrick Mameli gave us an understanding on why Pestilence was brought back to life and creative spark still residing in Patrick’s heart to write death metal with substance.
